5 Most Expensive Marijuana Strains of 2018

THE MOST EXPENSIVE STRAINS OF MARIJUANA USUALLY HAVE THE STRONGEST GENETICS.

Quality marijuana isn’t always that cheap. Just like a good bottle of wine, the prices vary depending on its quality. The pricing factor depends on a number of details attributed to both the product and marketing strategies. Having said that, marijuana strains don’t always have to have the best genetics to be expensive. Generally, they become more expensive because of the popularity given to them. If a strain receives a Cannabis Cup, it will be more expensive. So, I have made a list of the 5 most expensive marijuana strains for 2018.

1. Fruity Pebbles

Named after the famous cereal for its colorful appearance. With a pedigree breed from Alien Genetics of Green Ribbon, Tahoe OG, Grand Daddy Purple and Alien Kush, Fruity Pebbles can sell for up to $1500 an ounce. This Indica strain contains about 20% THC and tastes just like the cereal. It has that tropical, fruity flavor and smells divine. It has an overall great taste before and after smoking it, making anyone’s mouth water after taking one look at it.

2. Cannabis Caviar

Coming in at #2 is Cannabis Caviar or moon rocks. Fabricated as Gourmet Marijuana, Caviar Weed is a delightful combination of 3 things:

  • Grape God Cannabis: Indica Strain that comes from combining God Bud and Grapefruit.
  • Grape Rhino Kief : resin of crystals that cover cannabis flower containing cannabinoids, that must be burnt down to convert the THCA to THC.
  • Grape Rhino Hash Oil: liquid cannabis made by decarboxylating hashish in acetone, alcohol or butane.

It is made by soaking its buds in the hash oil. After being dipped, the buds must be left to dry for a few weeks. The dried nuggets are then rolled in Kief, adding that extra fruity, rich, sweet flavor to it. The result, a top level marijuana, with 5-20% THC and 30-80% THC hash oil. Cannabis Caviar has a high concentration of THC, THCA and other cannabinoids.

It retails at $1400 an ounce and is definitely for those who want to smoke less, need longer effects, or have medical needs for large amounts of THC. Weed Caviar is definitely one of the most expensive marijuana strains of 2018.

3. Loud dream

Some may call it a mystery strain, debating whether it is an Indica or Sativa.

Loud Dream

Brewed by Loud Seed, many say it is an Indica Strain, but the high will start full on set with sativa effects.  It was made by crossing itself with a Blue Dream F1. What a beautiful lovechild! This Sativa Hybrid Strain has a concentration of 28% THC and can sell for $800 an ounce. The plant per se is resistant to mold, mildew, and pests. Thanks to its outstanding THC levels, this strain can be a great option for medical marijuana patients.

Selling at $800, this strain can be considered among the top 5 most expensive marijuana strains of this year.

4. The oracle

The oracle was believed to be one of the most expensive and potent strains there is. After a lab tested it (The Werc Shop), they found out it was a re-branded strain of CBD called ACDC, which is pretty cool since CBD strains of weed are really good. The Oracle is a cross between Cannatonic Resin Seeds and a low THC strain of Cannabis Ruderalis. It contains less than 1% THC and 8-14% CBD. The Oracle does not have psychoactive effects. Instead, it is good for medical cannabis patients who don’t want to get stoned. It is available in preparations like pills or tinctures.

Oracle ACDC was sold at $1000 for a cloned plant, and was supposed to have 40% THC. At this price, we can say for sure that Oracle ACDC was one of the most expensive strains of marijuana there has been.

5. Isla OG

Canned Isla OG

It was made famous by rapper 2 Chainz’s. Isla OG is an even hybrid that comes from the OG Kush family, having a THC level of 27%. LA Island Incorporated and their associated company Top Shelf have canned the product into aluminum canisters to cure it. Debating on its presentation, we know weed conserves better in cooler places. Metallic substances like aluminum can conduct heat.

Retailing at $800 an ounce, Isla OG is one of the most popular weeds in the market. The canned presentation has 1/8 of an ounce and sells for $100. There are no seed for sale in the market of this plant.
